Getting the Word Out

On Saturday, June 8th, Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin held the Be Prepared Safety Fair, at the Calabasas Community Center.

The regional event was well represented by many stakeholders and agencies including the LA County Fire Department, LA County Sheriffs, City of Agoura Hills, City of Calabasas, City of Malibu, Resource Conservation District of Santa Monica Mountains (RCD), CAL FIRE, Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, and more.

The Agoura Hills Fire Safe Council participated in the event, talking with Agoura Hills Residents about wildfire prevention and how the Firewise Communities we are currently establishing are going to save lives, save property, and even save residents money.

We also had a booth at the Agoura Hills Concerts in the Park at Chumash Park, where we demonstrated inexpensive Ember-resistant vent screens. 90% of structures destroyed in wildfires are due to ignition from embers.
