City of Agoura Hills’ WRA has begun
Recently, the City of Agoura Hills began the process of commissioning a Wildfire Risk Assessment (or WRA), which is the necessary precursor to a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (or CWPP). Once both of these reports have been completed, Agoura Hills will be eligible for grants from state agencies like CAL FIRE, and possibly even federal agencies, to cover expenses related to wildfire mitigation work done at the city level.
Other nearby communities have done this work—the City of Malibu completed their CWPP in July 2021. CLICK HERE for more information.
Oak Park completed their CWPP in July 2023. CLICK HERE to see their CWPP. Based on opportunities identified in Oak Park’s CWPP, they applied for and received a $623,000 grant from CAL FIRE to mitigate wildfire risk by removing vegetative fuels along Medea Creek and Lindero Creek in Oak Park.
The City of Agoura Hills expects to complete the first stage of its WRA report by October 2025. CLICK HERE for more information.
