You’ve probably already seen them around town.
The City of Agoura Hills currently has 10 recognized Firewise Communities, with one more, Oak View Ranch, currently applying for Firewise USA recognition.
With our 11th community, over 80% of the residents of Agoura Hills will fall within a Firewise Community.

Firewise was developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and is a cooperative effort among local, state, federal and private agencies and organizations to promote fire safety in the wildland/urban interface.

- Insurance Discounts: Many major insurers (such as USAA, Mercury, State Farm, and CA FAIR Plan) offer premium discounts to homeowners in recognized communities. In California, regulations require insurers to offer these discounts.
- Increased Grant Eligibility: Firewise sites often receive preference for federal, state, and local grant funding for fuel mitigation and safety projects.
- Preserved Property Value: Proactive risk reduction can increase property values and make homes easier to resell in high-risk zones.
